Area of Study:
We investigate innate-like and adaptive T cell responses to cancer, viral pathogens and bacterial infections.
-iNKT and MAIT cell responses in health and disease
-CD8+ cytotoxic T cell responses to viral pathogens (e.g., influenza A - viruses) and tumor antigens
-Cancer immunology and immunotherapy
-T cell-based vaccine design and immunotherapy
-Sepsis-mediated inflammation and immunosuppression
Research Profile
The overarching goal of our research is to further our understanding of conventional and innate-like invariant T cell responses in health and disease. We are particularly interested in cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells and mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells and their therapeutic potentials in various conditions, including malignancies, viral infections and sepsis. We use preclinical models in our mechanistic studies as well as clinical samples in an effort to translate our findings “from the benchtop to the bedside”. The knowledge to be gained is expected to lead to novel disease-tailored immunotherapies and vaccination strategies.
